I came up in investment banking and private equity. It was good training — you learn how businesses actually make money, and how quickly things go sideways when nobody is watching the numbers. But I wanted to work directly with owners, not spreadsheets about them. So I left that world and started Osprey CFO.
What I kept seeing was the same problem: owners running excellent businesses without a clear picture of their own finances. When they went looking for help, they got handed to a rotating roster of strangers — nobody who knew their business, nobody accountable by name.
I’ll tell you plainly: I’m not a CPA. My job is to understand your problems as an owner and match you with the right person on our team — experienced, U.S.-based CPAs who run the accounting work itself. That division of labor is the whole point. You get someone whose only job is to know your business, and specialists who do the work right.
My day is spent talking with clients and managing those relationships. That’s not a side effect of how the firm works — it is how the firm works. I’ve always got time to speak with clients.
